Trivia
We have many Asian shops in our ‘hood’ which do a brisk business with the local population. I usually find the assistants quite rude in that they carry on a conversation between themselves in a language which is not English without any eye contact with me while I pay for whatever it is I’m buying. However, today in my quest to find fresh ginger, I went to a shop in St Patrick Square and finding all the ginger in large pieces asked the young man in charge if he had smaller bits. He said to just break off the amount I wanted and then didn’t charge me for the piece I wanted. I will go back to that shop.
Later I met up with one of my erstwhile cycling companions for a review of the state of the nation amongst the usual organ recital of the aged, but there was much laughter too.
The scaffolding outside the house has been up for nearly 10 days and not one workman has been back to start work on the balconies. The thought that I can have fairy lights adorning the structure for Christmas is no longer an idle thought.
Before I left for Orkney I was wasting my time crocheting 30 Granny squares and now I need to sew them together and decide what to do with them. At least for today they can be my blip.
