Exploring the Ruins

Spent the day wandering around the Fountains Abbey ruins & the Studley Royal Water Garden & woods, took lots of photos (most still to be processed) & actually walked just over 5 miles, but still didn't see everything. Additional photos are given as extras - the view back towards the Abbey along the river includes the Autumn colour selected by the afternoon sunlight - fantastic!

Fountains Abbey (one of the best preserved Cistercian monasteries) & the landscaped Studley Royal gardens & parkland are actually classified as a World Heritage site, now managed by the National Trust & English Heritage.
