Season Of The Witch

Firstly, apologies for the slightly clumsy edit. These Halloween displays were either side of quite a large gateway and it didn’t look right if I did a very wide shot as the gates just dominated the image.
And I’m assuming the householders have done this mainly for their own pleasure, as the lane this house was on does not get much passing traffic!
A reasonable run down to Chester today. Good news - the smart motorway upgrade works around Wigan have been completed. Bad news - they have kept the 50mph limit in force. No idea why as all four lanes were very free flowing, there were no outstanding works and there was nothing up ahead to slow us down. Maybe the powers that be think that after 3 years of us crawling through the roadworks, we won’t be able to cope with the dizzying heights of 70mph.
Didn’t actually manage to see mum though. Arrived at the home to find a notice advising they had an infection outbreak and we should only visit if it was absolutely necessary - more for our own protection as much as anything else. Given that I’m on stage again next week, I thought I’d better not risk it so will leave it until after the show is over.
Not an entirely wasted trip though as we checked the house was ok, dealt with some paperwork and paid a couple of bills.
And we were home before it got dark. Doubt we’ll be able to say that next week, after the clocks go back…
