Colours of Autumn
With a bright, sunny day forecast and social media full of glorious Autumn pictures from the National Trust's Sheffield Park, I took a trip out to see for myself.
Having queued to park in the overflow carpark for about 20 mins (which ended up being on the side of a track through the estate) I thought I'd made a big mistake. However, after a "comfort break" and a restoring cup of coffee from a convenient catering van I was ready to tackle the gardens. Once inside most of the crowds seemed to disappear, especially in the more remote areas like the woodland ... and wow, those Autumn colours!
The woodlands were a touch muddy, but I found some nice fungi, including the extra of a birch polypore still hanging onto the morning dew.
In the end it was a good day.
