Spider Silk
October may be mushroom season but around here it is also spider web season. I've photographed many beautiful webs over the years. This is not a web as such but yards and yards of spider silk on Auntie's Tree which got me thinking of the stories of fairies using the very strong silk to weave. Which, in turn, got my wondering if it was actually possible. (That's how my mind works.) I was astonished to learn that it is and, in fact, it has been done with the silk of the Golden Orb spider. If you want to learn about it and see an amazing video, here's a link. Another coolish but sunny day. We're on a roll!
