Wide Expanse

A day at the beach. Brisk walk, head down into the wind, collar up, hat on. Tide incoming, distant hills. People taking a promenade, photos with phones, fishermen, dog walkers. Along the shore, building rubble as sea defences, bricks and concrete, reinforced iron, old tyres. Out to sea, container ships heading to port, lines of wind turbines stretching to the horizon. Overcast, with occasional bursts of sunshine. Marvellous, head clearing, bracing.
