Bird Island
Since Mrs P retired the garden has come along by leaps and bounds. Ages ago she planted this "weeping" tree with a box hedge around it. The birds use it as a staging post before going to the table. The kitchen window is out of shot on the right. The birds also use to scamper about under the shelter of the hedge and as the branches of the tree were long the inside of the hedge was a real haven and an "island world". A couple of days ago we started to trim tree and hedge but yesterday went and bought a proper hedge trimmer. The box sides, in and out, trimmed and the top lowered. It looks much better now to human eyes and the birds are now recolonising.
