Alarm
More autumnal shades, this time just outside the station Shipley. I’d had to pop down to the dentist.
Later in the afternoon, back at home, one of my carbon monoxide alarms went off. Once I’d ventilated the house I called the emergency gas number and an hour later I had an engineer on site to advise. By that point they didn’t detect any CO, but as per procedure had to cap my gas at the meter until such time as I can get an engineer out to properly check all of my appliances. So for the time being I don’t have hot water, heating or a cooker, but they did leave me an electric hot plate and a fan heater.
As of writing I haven’t been able to find an engineer who is answering the phone or responding to messages but it was into the evening before I could start ringing round. Hopefully I will be able to get someone out eventually.
Postscript - as of Saturday lunchtime I’ve been reconnected - the engineer didn’t really find anything wrong with the boiler or anything else, but has checked everything and fitted a new alarm.
