Carnation

My mum took her first ever flight to come and visit me here in The Netherlands, from her home in Aberdeen, Scotland. It was around the time of her 65th birthday, five years ago and I invited her over to spend it here with us. I was so happy when she agreed. So across she came with my auntie and we had a great time. Before they arrived, I filled the house with flowers, tulips etc. My grandparents had always liked carnations, they always had a bunch in the house, so I bought some carnations as well, as my mum liked them too. Some of the stems had small shoots coming out of them, so I cut those off and popped them in some water to see if they would take root. Some of them did, so I planted them into pots and put them out on the balcony. Happy to see they are still going strong, with flowers popping up every now and then, which reminds me of that visit from my mum. Hopefully we can get her over again for another visit and maybe I'll get another special batch of carnations for my balcony pots.
