The Royal Irish
On my walk this morning I came across this man collecting for the Army Benevolent Fund, I engaged him in conversation and the stories being to emerge. He spent 22 years in the Royal Irish Regiment, he gave me permission to take his photograph. In my ongoing project I have learned that speaking to people leads to opportunities emerging.
Note his medals, the one on the extreme left is the Northern Ireland Campaign medal and the clasp indicates more than one tour of duty. The extreme right is the Long Service medal for good conduct. The second from the left is Accumulated Campaign Service Medal, awarded for multiple tours and the remainder are Jubilee medals I think.
