As t-foghar
The leaves seem to be falling thick and fast this weekend - this is the pavement opposite our house and needless to say a good few have fallen into our garden.
We headed over to Birnam this morning for the local session of their Book Festival, featuring some of the artists who will be appearing at the festival including Margaret Bennett (folklorist, singer and author), Morag Anderson (poet), Fiona Valpy (author) and Colleen Nicoll (soprano). It really set the scene well for the rest of the event .
I was especially interested in hearing Margaret Bennett and enjoyed listening to her speak about her life and work. I bought a couple of her books which she signed and I enjoyed a brief conversation in Gaelic with her - having steeled myself to do so on the basis I would regret not doing so more than doing so and making a fool of myself (which I didn't). Margaret Bennett is hosting another session tomorrow on Dundee Street songs which we will be returning for.
The other contributors were also interesting - I hadn't come across Morag Anderson before but I will look out for her work.
We headed over to Loch of Loches afterwards but didn't stay as the car park was full, as was the Hermitage nearby. Lots of people wanting to see the autumn colours, reminding me how luck I am to live here.
This evening we are going along to a quiz night which should be fun.
