Another Place
This is one of the Antony Gormley figures at Crosby Beach, a bit north of Liverpool (and south of Southport, where I was staying with my younger brother M, and sister-in-law, T). Here's a bit about the work, which consists of 100 cast-iron figures taken from the sculptor's own body, all looking out to sea. The figures have "weathered" differently (in particular, as regards the number of barnacles) depending on how much they are submerged in the sea as the tide goes in and out. It was a glorious day and I would have happily spent all of it on the beach, but we needed to go home before then and M and I later went to the Atkinson arts venue to see the Egyptian collection, which was a rush and we didn't have time to look at it properly. In the evening we went out again for another meal, this time at the Landowne Bistro. Staying with M&T is an expensive business.
There are another two photos of the same figure as extras and also one of Eric, the cat which I didn't know M&T had. He's very sweet.
