Winter Droving
I did a bit more shelf work first thing and then rang craggy to see how he’s doing after a major op. He, and Fly, were up for being taken for a drive so we had a lovely little tour on a beautiful day before it began to cloud over. We initially thought we’d go to Basecamp but it was busy so we headed on aiming for the community cafe at Threlkeld but there was a huge tailback going that way so we turned off for Mungrisedale so that craggy could look at boulders and touch rock again! Happy with a bit of gabbro reunion we went on to Caldbeck for refreshments at the Muddy Duck kiosk and we sat out in some lovely warm sunshine. Craggy’s internal rock satnav then took us to a quarry he knew and we went to look at limestone. A lovely elevated spot with some great views. We headed back down and home again via Bassenthwaite and I dropped craggy off and went to have a wander around the Droving.
There was a great choir that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to with a bit of rousing joining in …
https://www.commonerschoir.com/protest.php … I spotted a work colleague and had a chat and by this time it wasn’t far off time for the parade to start its journey through the town so I walked along to near the start and spotted craggy again and we watched the parade pass by his road end and more or less managed to stay dry.
