Glorious Autumn Color
I had big plans for the day, most of which fizzled for one reason or another, but we did manage the Morning Reading about Musk and the not-so-behind- the-scenes jockeying for control of the Republican party...another sign that the big actors recognize Trump's less than normal grasp on reality. Several well known news outlets have chosen not to endorse either candidate. Staff members are resigning in protest. Trump is reacting to being called a fascist by members of his own Administration by calling Harris a fascist as well as a Marxist and a Communist. It sounds like a playground altercation between children. The paper said this morning that the race is a dead heat. Many are saying that they would rather vote for 'the devil you know, rather than the devil you don't'. There is still a largish group of 'undecideds' tending toward Harris. I also think there is a group of people who, for their own reasons, don't want to say who they will be voting for.
We got both dogs out for a walk down to the creek. Not far enough for Spike, but far enough for the old boy who pottered along intently sniffing every bush. I took this picture of a big maple tree in full autumn color, contrasting nicely with blue sky and varying shades of green in surrounding oaks and redwoods, not to mention the trees with no foliage that were damaged in the fire.
I tried putting a half inch lift in my shoe, but I think it's too much as my back was very sore, my neck was stiff and my jaw ached. I have no idea if all these things are related, but I was losing interest in doing much more. We both went over to Dana and Jim's to feed Sassy and water the garden. By the time we got home, I was feeling quite wabbit...yes, Blethers, I find it a very descriptive word though I daresay I acquired it during my time in Scotland along with crabbit, squint (for crooked), gobsmacked and stravaiging. I'm sure there are a few more, but I'm feeling a bit brain dead right now...looking forward to a glass of wine and a jacket potato with broccoli and cheese.
Tomorrow is another day....
