Flowers for mom...
After sleeping in this morning trying to keep a routine, I went outside and picked these three dahlias for her. If it doesn't freeze, there are several more growing so maybe one or more bunch of flowers for her from her garden. Stopping by the bakery for her favorite doughnut, they also still had a croissant still on the shelf (a rarity) so I got that for her too.. She really appreciated something a bit different.
She was just getting into her wheelchair when I got there. After asking her if she wanted to stay in her room or go into the community room, I turned on her television and we started talking.. or at least trying.. She was really focused on her picture frame that cycled through 100's of photo my sister and I have put on it. Remembering the good times, not understanding that we have lost so many people on those photos, wanting to call her brother, wondering where my sister and I was and... It took a little over two hours for breakfast one bite at a time. So hard trying to be in the present when she was so much in the past - but I hope at least that brought some comfort to her.
When I left I headed over to Costco - a place I have been trying to get to for a few weeks. When you get off work between 2 to 6am and stores don't open till 10am... That's past my bedtime so... Amazing how nuts that place is at 5pm on a Saturday. They were out of a few things I wanted but they had the important things. Saving so much over the local stores - sure makes it worth the effort. A little of playing with Tiger, blip, listening to the radio and... A very nice day
A 500 mile drive tomorrow...
