The graveyard below the castle

St Cuthbert's .. just catching the light as I was heading for the Castle Terrace farmers market.  Bought aged cheese, chocolate and  Andante bread. Sunny and mild, 13C later.

Out in the afternoon through the throngs on Waverly bridge and the High Street to St Cecilia's hall for the first of the Georgian Concert Society events this season; the Gonzaga band playing and singing Monteverdi, Merula, Donati, Marini, Picchi, Calestani .. songs and short pieces showing the 'second practice' of performance style in the early 17th Century in Italy, with the cornett harmonizing or echoing the voice. Gloriously melodic and balanced.
