Wariness

Against the bank of a pond under an overhanging tree, a coot rested on a rock, looking back over its shoulder (do birds have shoulders?), wary of a group of passing mallards. I liked the silhouette made by its outline against the bright blue water. The orangey coloured leaves in the foreground provided nice spots of colour in contrast to the black of the bird.
