Day at a Time

St Michael and All Angels, Hawkshead

This is the church where K's funeral was held yesterday. K was a Lakeland man, completely rooted in this community. He had only lived away when he went to university. Although neither he nor his wife, my dear friend, was a churchgoer he was buried in a family lair so there was a church service.  It was so fitting and went well.

Unsurprisingly there was a very big attendance. My friend was amazing. So composed despite all the moving words. Yesterday was their first wedding anniversary - as someone said they didn't exactly rush in to marriage.

The four of us and two of our partners were there as well as other friends from our shared Edinburgh days. In the evening our bereaved friend had booked a table in a local restaurant so we were together in a more relaxed setting.

Before we set off for home Cameraman, Flora and I popped in to see her at home for coffee. She must be exhausted.

My blip is St Michael and All Angels in the golden autumn sunshine.

Thank you for all your kind wishes. Once I'm back home I'll try to catch up.
