The Dutch Hills

Today we drove past water buffers, a food forest in the making, a tiny forest, a dry valley, a part of the longest Haag in Limburg and past grafts. A graft is a bend or mini-terrace on a slope, usually overgrown with shrubs.

All this was because we were invited by some friends of the swimming club.

It was an educational trip. We see that a lot is changing in the landscape and know that it is all about being armed against high water. Today we got an explanation and saw the connection between all those changes.
Right at home, I lived in one of our water butts. I think there are still some changes that need to be made in our garden. It won't have to be a tiny forest, but I do need to start thinking about even more diversity.
