Autumn

Is really here I feel. There are not many flowers to put in a vase just now. But I decided that this "past its peak" hydrangea blossom was well worth counter space.
A busy day. Up at 7 (but with the extra hours sleep - hurray). Penny & Steve dropped of Layla at 0815, at 0940 I went to pick up the cleaner and Gilbert (usually comes on a Saturday) arrived at 10. I had a bit of a clear up (I keep chipping away) and took Layla for a walk. I had got a chicken in a bag for lunch so put that on with some roasties and various veg (also, whisper it, a sticky toffee pudding for pudd). Penny & Steve got back about 1415 and we had a lovely lunch together. It's not worth doing a roast for 1 so this was a bonus for me too. After they left I cleared up (this seems to take me a while) and decided a needed a "sit down". So I called, near neighbour Carol who was poorly yesterday to see how she was. Much improved so  I popped up to see her and we had a glass of wine and a chat. Overall a good day. I am proposing an early night again.
