Rome
Our flight was at 1 so after breakfast we had a quick walk around the neighbourhood. We’re staying just on the edge of the ‘monti’ neighbourhood which was traditionally rough and full of thieves and hookers but now is quite cool and hip. It’s an odd area, like the rest of Rome there is a lot of graffiti and rubbish. Just out of shot were stinky overflowing bins but then we have the fantastic floral display. The whole of Rome seems to be like this… There is a load of building and clearup work going on for the 25th anniversary of some Catholic thing next year which doesn’t help.
Anyway, in spite of the graffiti and terrible smells it is a fantastic place and we’ve had a great time.
The journey home was a little delayed and cramped and generally horrid but we were soon home.
Alf and Liv have left the house in a good state and Dotty was very pleased to see us.
H’s mum had made a cracking roast so we went over there for dinner.
