Party

Lovely day. I got up fairly early and got on with starting some of the food…prepping the potatoes and ratatouille. Good to have a bit longer lingering over tea and chat once Mt&H were up, then once we were all dressed I took the weans and Higgs the dog to the park. A beautiful cloudless day, and quite warm in the sun. Mx said it was just like Scotland with so much sunshine! :)
They played on the swings and climbing frames and Mx went around on his new scooter whilst I threw balls for Higgs and then had a coffee from the little cafe, sitting in the sun. Once again they were being lovely with each other and I didn’t have to do any of the usual sorting of minor rows and irritations…oh my if only this would last but I know it’s just a phase, although a very welcome one!
We walked home then I went up to the shops to get some spanakopita from one of the many Greek pastry shops round here, and various breads and quiches from M&S,
Once back Mt and I finished all the food prep and then T arrived (bringing a drone for Mx, which they immediately disappeared into the garden with, until it flew over the fence! T was suffering a bit…he had a wisdom tooth out on Wednesday and although it had been ok so far today it was really hurting. Cocodamol didn’t seem to shift it, but he pushed on, not able to eat the food, but chatting to everyone. There were 13 of us adults so lots of catching up and chatting to do, and luckily the weans just drifted around playing with the new toys and in the garden all afternoon.
Mx had asked for chocolate brownies with cream cheese icing and strawberries for his cake, rather than one of Mt’s elaborate lookalike cakes, so that was easier to make, it he’d made about double what we could eat….some ended up in the freezer for another time!.
In the evening we watched the Strictly results and chatted before having an early night…we were all tired!
