The Botanical World of Mary Delany

A fabulous exhibition at Beingbrough Hall.

These are high-quality photographic reproductions of Mary Delany's astonishing botanically correct "paper mosaiks". She produced beautiful, scientifically accurate works of art with paper, paint, and scissors. There are 950 works altogether, amazing when you consider she only started using this technique in 1771 at the age of 70.  She made over 100 per year until her deteriorating eyesight forced her to stop.
