Heavens Gate

A fairly pleasant weekend. Actually got to the gym and didn’t collapse through over working or over anxiety, which was nice.

This day we had decided to attend the last day of Kirchweihdult. Having been spoiled by our last visit, we thought it would be the same old chilled crowd of locals with a small sprinkling of well behaved tourist types.

The roads in Munich were a bit busy on the warm sunny early afternoon as we wended towards the Auer Dult.
On arrival we drove past the event on a slightly elevated road bordering the site. The dense sea of human heads within and overflowing without raised anxieties and an a cappella of "NO, no, noooo’s, nowhere near there" escaped from the car’s inmates. Even the #blinddeafdementeddoggy looked concerned.

With peddle to the metal we vacated the area. We then drove a little way onto the Werksviertel Mitte.
This was an altogether much quieter and civilised affair in one of the quirky parts of the city.
Although I had been to the Werksviertel a number of times before, I had good a session walking around some of the nooks and graffitied crannies of this area today.
Another visit planned m’thinks. Not only to explore more of the site but to experience a really exhilarating experience on the Ferris wheel. On this wheel there is a gap within the perimeter of gondolas on the wheel. The gap contains an open mesh steel platform (no guarding or handrails). Here you are tethered to the structure while it takes you for a city scenic ride, exposed to the potential drop and the elements.
