Agnes Varda, Almodovar, and Can Ugal
Torrential rain in Barcelona, off and on all day. It didn’t stop us though!
Brunch out in the El Raval barrio, then round the corner to the Agnes Varda exhibition in CCCB - tremendous and so much to see. We’ll try and go back as we can use the entrance tickets twice, such is the size! Has put us in the mood for seeing some of her films too.
Then, after a coffee and cake break, into Cines Floridablanca to see the new Almodovar film, The Room Next Door, his first in English and winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival this year. None of us knew the subject matter, so it was not the feel good film we perhaps needed in the damp conditions. However, terrific acting, very Almodovar, (although a bit strange to watch it in English!) and good to talk about it afterwards.
Dinner was in Can Ugal on Calle Berlin (after a break at home). Lovely treat by Ann and Suzie. Shared starters, a shared fish plate and shared desserts. Unlike other nights, when we had a drink on our patio before all going to bed, it was straight to bed tonight, after booking their taxi to the airport for the next morning at 5.40am!
My blip is from the exhibition and one extra is of the outside of the exhibition space and the other of an interesting video of the sea and tide - the tide is projected onto sand.
