UBS

Today I worked hard at the utility I started writing yesterday. Once again its value is not just the number it calculates, but the insight into the solver where it's calculated. I'd hoped to have it finished by the end of the afternoon, but I got to a good stopping point before taking a bus into Edinburgh. 

I was there to attend a talk at the University's Investment and Trading Club by one of our Operational Research MSc graduates. She needed a lot of support as a student 15 years ago, so it was good to see how successful she's been since, and pleasing to hear her tell current students how useful it has been to do the OR MSc.

I was going to eat in Edinburgh, but it was only 19:00 and there was a well-timed X62, so I decided to come home.
