Memories

We/I have had the caravan for over 3 years, and because it was our safe haven during difficult times inevitably it and the wider site are imbued with lots of memories, all of them good. So my visits here this year following J’s passing have had a poignancy to them.

The weather today has been a complete contrast to yesterday. It has rained most of the day. Outside the caravan there has been a lot of bird activity. Excitingly, as in previous years, the redwings have arrived, with large flocks flying around. Their particular favourite food is yew berries, and as there are numbers of mature yew trees through the site the thrushes (not just redwings) spend a lot of time flying from tree to tree. The birds are very flighty though and fly off at any approach. In extras a heavily cropped photo taken from the caravan, and a tree holding a flock of 17 redwing (as well as greenfinches and a mistle thrush).

This afternoon blipper Knottman and Mrs K visited, and I gave them a tour of the site. Significant parts are flooded, so waterproof footwear is a must. Since last year the site has changed ownership, much to the consternation of many of the existing owners, and what are known as the meadow and the sports field have changed completely with the implementation of a planning permission secured by the previous owner years ago. That’s a whole other story - in the main image a view of a waterlogged meadow with new caravans visible beyond.
