The Royal Navy tested the Highballs in Loch Striven in 1943. The tests used a former French battleship, the Courbet, as a target ship. The loch was chosen for its remote location and poor road access.
The highball bouncing bomb invented by Barns Wallis and famously used in the dambuster raids to breach dams in ww2 in Germany
