Iris Foetidissma

The name is quite a mouthful but I do prefer it to its more commonly used name Stinking Iris.

The plant doesn't actually stink as its name suggests, it just has a slightly meaty smell when you crush the leaves.

There are two of the plants near the parterre garden in Pollok Park and I've been waiting for the large pods to open and give us a look at the tightly packed bright orange-red seeds which will remain well into the winter.
