Back to Dubrovnik - the Jewel of the Adriatic

Today's been a day of hanging around. We had to check out of our rooms by 10 then to be picked up to be taken to Dubrovnik at 2.45.
We had decided to have a quiet day around the hotel making the most of our all inclusive for the last thing! I would have liked a swim but couldn't face not being able to have a shower afterwards and also having to bring wet clothes home.
The morning and lunchtime passed gently and it was time to gather for the bus. We were all on time and organised and the bus was on its way to Dubrovnik before 3. We reached the Montenegro border at 3.25 and hit the first hiccup. The guards asked for a list of everybody's names and passport numbers -rather than electronically scanning them as it's the norm. We managed that fairly quickly however and headed off after about 20 minutes for the border into Croatia less than a mile away. Here we joined a queue with two other coaches in front of us .....and nothing happened. Next thing we were told that there was a shift change of border guards so nothing would happen until the next shift were in place. The guards leave their post 15 minutes before their shift ends and the new guards arrive 15 minutes after their shift starts! We arrived at the border at 3.45 , it's now 4.15. We didn't know what they'd ask of us this time but so far nothing has happened at all. Normally they collect all the passports as a group and stamp them, so fingers crossed. Finally got through at 4.35. Bureaucracy at its best.
We reached our hotel in Dubrovnik which is a 3* so a bit of a downgrade from our previous hotels, having said that we're going to be up for breakfast at 4am ready to leave at 4.45 for our 7.30am flight so won't actually spend much time in it!
Dinner starts in 30 minutes after which I rather think we will be having an early night. My blip today is of the sunset over Dubrovnik, taken from the bus as we drove down and of the rusty glow of the mountains inland from us as we drove north towards Dubrovnik.
Thanks for keeping me company and for all the comments and interactions over the last couple of weeks. We've had fun!
