Am I normal?
I know I'm not entirely normal, but this is the blood result I've been waiting for....
A C-peptide score shows to what extent my body is able to make it's own insulin. It is one of the measures used to identify the sort of diabetes a person has (type 1 or type 2).
I have been treated - with insulin - as a type 1 diabetic for nearly 40 years even though 30 years ago new research showed that there was another type called MODY (mature onset diabetes of the young).
Fingers crossed that this blood test result which puts me firmly in the 'normal' range could mean different medication would work. Of course I can't rely on Google and need a Dr to explain it taking into account my own medical history, and, unfortunately the appointment is nearly 3 months away.
Nevertheless, I'm feeling optimistic!
