Flying the flag for the Poppy Appeal

Photo taken, this evening, on my arrival at TESCO Brockworth, to man the Poppy Appeal Stand.
On my bike I have flagpole carriers either side of the top box. Into the carriers I fit two x 1m metal rods with holes drilled through the top to take metal rings (key rings) to attach the flags. At the bottom of the flag I use short bungees to pull the flat tight, the bungee being attached to the chrome spacers of the pannier bags.
Many bikers have such flagpoles and there is often the question of how do others attach the flagpoles to the bikes.
In my case, I've had  couple of failures with flying flags but not since my current solution which I've been using for 3 or 4 years now.
We were changing our kitchen chairs and as I was dismantling them I realised that this might be a good solution to my problem. I took one of the legs from a chair, turned it upside down and attached it with reusable cable ties to the luggage rack that hold the mounting plate for my top box. Reusable ties so I can easily remove the metal tubes for MOT time!
The top box itself prevents the chrome chair legs from falling to the rear and the green bungee, going from one side of the box to the other, prevents the fall to the front.
It works splendidly and, as mentioned above, has not let me down during memorial runs, veterans funerals, Poppy Appeal events and stand attendance, etc. for the past 3 or 4 years.
When I'm not flying flags I insert the rubber bungs that rested the legs on the floor, when it was attached to the chair.
Not great engineering but it works.
