Day Trippers Leaving the Island

With my first memories being of island life, ferries have always been  important for me.  Meeting the ferry or departing on one is always special. 

A few years ago I looked back on all the holidays I have had during my adult life and they were all to islands.  Orkney, Lanzarote, Arran and for many years the Ile de Batz in Brittany.  I call Batz my little bit of the West Highlands in France, as the houses are almost identical.

The island is very popular as a day trip and watching the queue of people waiting to catch the ferry in the late afternoon is well worth a trip down to the pier.
