Slow start - a few whiskey induced sore heads, uninspiring weather and no real desire to get going on a hard day!
A bit of paddling then into the big effort.
2.5km portage with 110m ascent over the watershed on a scottish 'path' ie slightly more defined section of bog.
A seige approach quickly evolved with some folks shuttling kit bags up the hill in stages while 2.5 of us chose a boat each, harnessed in, found our mental happy places and hauled boats.
I got a half time reprieve to run down the other side and try to hitch back to the vans. Half of me was grateful to have got a ride fairly quickly, 15km of road wasn't the most appealing walk/run. Other half a bit sad as it meant I was back in time to go back up the hill for more hauling!
The downhill was steep and wet, a welcome relief but now needing a whole load of care to not get run over, pulled off your feet or send 30+kg of plastic hurtling at someone!
Finished just as it got dark. Hasty tidy up. Celebratory chippy tea. Happy days.
