Dudley

The company I work for is unusual in the UK food retail world in that we have our own farm and can trace much of our produce from end to end. Conception to consumption.  Although I don't officially start back until Monday I had the opportunity to attend a conference today / tomorrow, including some time visiting the farm and understanding how we are setting ourselves up to be one of the best regenerative farms in the country.

These young bullocks were weaned from their mother's today (v noisy) and will spend the next five months in the shed. The slurry they produce will be utilised in the onsite methane harvesting plant and used to fuel the tractor, in the extras, for use on the farm. It's the first such plant in the UK.

The other extra is Dudley the bull. Sadly he has now turned out to be Dudley the Dud but apparently is being kept anyway as he's such a character. Who said commercial farmers weren't sentimental.
