The Anglers
Our original plan was to head over and fish Coldingham Loch, but it’s gone all members only, so it was a drive (yes, I was the volunteer) over to Kailzie Fishery near Peebles. Lovely autumnal colours on the drive once we got away - McC had held a casting masterclass for the novices beforehand. Of course I’m exempt.
Anyway, a fine little lochan, OK more a big pond, to spend the day on. And there were fish, not down low, but feeding up near the surface so we swapped our flies about. I briefly had one on, but it got away. It’s these barbless hooks, innit. Anyway McC eventually landed one and all in all it was a very enjoyable day.
Along to Peebles to park up and a swifty in the Bridge Inn, then the Crown for eats and finally the County where we met young McC and bade farewell to MrT who was heading to the Edinburgh bus (with the fish). And then the long drive back to Greenlaw and I could finally crack open a beer. A most enjoyable evening, I mean morning. Good lord, 4am? Time to kip!
