Ducks in a row
Crossing the nearby wetlands this morning, we were initially fooled by these neat rows of decoy ducks on the water. We soon realised our mistake when we noticed they were not moving.
Decoy ducks are typically used in waterfowl hunting to attract real ducks. The idea is to attract passing ducks in order to shoot them!
The metal cage on the left is to house a live 'caller' duck whose calls act as another means of attracting passing ducks. Not very nice really.
There's a closer shot of the decoys in the extra.
