Under Milk Wood
Today's the day ...................... for a new book
When we went to the Wigtown Book Festival earlier in the month and so much enjoyed the talk given by Cerys Matthews about her love for the work of Welsh poet and writer, Dylan Thomas - we were keen to buy her own newly-created edition for children of Under Milk Wood.
It's a work that Will knows well and in fact he knows quite a lot of it off by heart. So the idea of a re-telling by Cerys, who has an equal love of Welsh culture and the Welsh language was very appealing. Coupled with that, the new book was illustrated by Kate Evans in her own very individual style and the combined result was really something to treasure.
The only trouble was that we weren't the only ones to think so - and before we got to the front of the queue to buy a copy, they were all sold out. Fortunately, we could order one to be sent on to us in due course - and today, it arrived in the post. The above is the first page and the rest of it is equally attractive.
No wonder Will can't wait to read it to the grandchildren ....................!
