A Thousand a Day

Marsh Harrier

Daughter #2 and I spent a very pleasant hour or so, standing by a lake near Widdrington, watching birds. We saw marsh harriers, hen harriers, buzzards and a kestrel: a real raptor feast. The marsh harriers were particularly exciting, approaching quite close to where we stood.

The icing on the cake was a first sighting of a Slavonian grebe, for me, too.
