London to Paris

I wonder if the architects of The Midland Railway ever envisaged that the cellars at St Pancras station would one day be the waiting room for direct high speed trains to Europe.

Travelling to Europe this way would always be my first choice. Less hassle at security. Comfortable seats. Walk off the train directly into the streets of Paris. No passport queues (even in these Brexit times as it’s all done back in those former London cellars!)

We are back in Paris prompted, in part, by seeing all the iconic landmarks as we watched the Summer Olympics and Paralympics.

Tonight we have enjoyed a lovely meal on a bustling boulevard near the hotel. Last night we dined in Covent Garden and while it was busy it was subdued compared to Paris. Maybe it was yesterday’s Budget or perhaps it’s the difference, in my opinion, of the U.K. population no longer being European Citizens?
