The Beast

It was my 5th Arlo evening walk in a row, and the firework bangs have been slowly increasing. When I left the house I could hear some in the distance so decided to cut to the chase and go the road to somewhere where the river is loud and the trees are high. When we are in the open and there are bangs, Arlo heads for cover in the trees, so it kind of worked. We could still hear them, they must by 5+ miles away at least, but the other noises and playing with a stick kept him focused elsewhere. He could hear them but just paused each time. So I think we'll need to keep doing that and avoid open spaces, otherwise his fear lasts the whole day and he doesn't even want to go out. Before Arlo, I'd never realised how much it could affect dogs no matter how loud or quiet they are, poor pups.
