Spicy Halloween

A grey, dark, drizzly and oppressive day, so grateful for the latest adventure down to Manchester to meet with The Eldest and her beau for a spot of lunch.

We collected the grandparents and headed South to collect her and bring her with us into the city centre. None of us had seen her in a couple of months, so it was a nice moment as the wee ones completely enveloped her as soon as she opened the door to her surprisingly tidy and clean student house.

With Big Blue full, we headed into town and although not that far in distance terms, it took around 30 minutes to get through the city traffic and parked up. We went the long way round to our usual eating venue; Mala, to facilitate a walk through the Printworks, which is really cool. My father commented that the only place he’d seen anything like the ceiling was Las Vegas.

Lunch was fun with lots of laughter and complaints about the food - which everyone had picked themselves - being too spicy, before we took the obligatory visit to the comic book store and wandered back to the car. The Eldest’s beau had been sent packing with a flea in his ear about his failure to charge his phone.

He’s a nice chap and I wonder if he knows what he’s let himself in for(!)?

The journey back was elongated by late afternoon city traffic, but we made it back safe and then it was a quick turnaround to get The Youngest into her Wednesday Addams outfit and out trick or treating. She got a good haul and it was actually a really nice atmosphere as we joined the masses knocking on doors and requesting confectionery.

Returning home, we then lit our own pumpkins and placed them outside our front door to let others know that we were willing and able to return the favour.
