Kotuku, White Heron

No visit to South Westland for me is complete without a visit to the Heron Sanctuary at Whataroa.  It poured with rain during my visit but that is so much better than bright sunlight for photography.  I did feel for them all huddled down on their nests, then a pair swapped nest duties and the departing bird landed in a punga right beside the bird hide.
