Trixie's Adventures

It's dangerous in the city....................

My human can't decide whether Edinburgh has always been a dangerous city or whether because everything is reported straight away on social media, one hears about a lot more stuff that is happening; thus making everyone OK Ann a lot more anxious about going out alone or walking home at night?   30/40 years ago Ann used to go clubbing regularly (Cinderella Rockerfellas, if anyone is interested) and thought nothing of walking home alone at 3/4am in the morning. Today she went to the hairdressers, got home at 2.15pm and actually had to put all the lights on because it was so dark.

Then we went out for my walk and at 3pm it was really scary. We went through the grounds of the Astley Ainslie Hospital and walked down the path to the woods (but didn't actually go through the woods) and it was really creepy. We were literally only on the path for a few mins but it's not very well used so someone could quite easily have attacked us and left us for dead!!! My human is such a drama Queen.

We've been back in Edinburgh a week now, and haven't walked along the Canal path yet, because apparently a few people have been mugged there recently and now the police are patrolling it regularly. We're worried about walking along the cycle shared pathways because there's been a few attacks on dog walkers there.

Last night (Halloween) there were problems all over the city and a lot of the bus services had to be withdrawn/re-routed because of kids causing mayhem. Throwing rocks at traffic, setting off fireworks, setting things on fire, etc, etc. …............It never used to be like this did it? We certainly won't be going out on the 5th.

Actually tonight the school next door is in the midst of an organised firework display. They do it every year and always let the neighbouring flats know what time it will start/finish. It started at 7pm and I'm lying on the rug listening to all the fireworks going off. Fortunately I am a very chilled little Collie pup and fireworks don't bother me. I know I can go to Ann for reassurance & cuddles but tbh I'm indoors with Ann and I know that the fireworks are outdoors and will be over by 7.30pm. How Ann's managed to raise such a chillaxed little Collie; she doesn't know. 'MollyCollie' was petrified by fireworks.

…...........My human doesn't want to turn into one of those 'old ladies' that doesn't go out at night. Though if none of her friends go out at night, then she's hardly likely to go pounding the streets by herself is she? Problems, problems.

…....................And if anyone is interested I went to Fairmilehead Park to play with my ball this morning. The wild flower garden is still looking lovely. All the leaves are falling off the trees, so we thought the flowers would be dying too, but they're not. …..............Aren't they pretty?!!
