Walking in Wharfdale.
This is a view of NC and our close friend Michele , behind the is the upper reaches of Wharfdale . It was a ridiculously short walk but it took us 4 hours because we had so many reasons to stop and look. One of the delights was to find so many different types of mushrooms and then, because we are interested in the way that flooding can be reduced by restoring rivers to their floodplains we kept looking for signs of old river channels that the R. Wharf followed as it wandered across its floodplain . It’s is now confined within embankments and the flood plain drained so that it can provide pasture for grazing sheep.
We have had a lovely day which we will finish off with “Have I got news for you ,”and an episode of “Shetland.”
