Suksessterte

Or Success cake.  A Norwegian celebration cake that we ate in a cafe back in Oslo this evening.  It has an almond base with an egg custard icing on the top.  Not too sweet but soft and nutty.  Delicious.

We left Kirkenes first thing in the most beautiful intense Arctic light.  The sun was cold and piercing and the rays bounced off the snow and left long shadows.  On the way to the airport we passed over a bridge that had another powerful tidal flow between two parts of a fjord.

We walked up the steps of the plane which glistened on the runway.   Red and white against the cool blue sky.

The flight down to Oslo was two and half hours and for the first hour we flew over empty tundra and forest.  No sign of habitation except for an occasional small settlement at the edge of a fjord.

Back in Oslo, Anu and Marty went off on a mission and V and I walked around the area, ate the cake and then had a drink on the way home.

We went out to a beautiful restaurant called Savage which fed us several courses of Norwegian delicacies.  Stayed back in Camilla Hus in a beautiful smaller room.

Home tomorrow
