Floaters

Black circles then streaks like spilled ink, then dots with halos appeared in my left eye. We went to Urgent Care. They sent us to Ahuja ER. They immediately did a brain CT scan to ensure I wasn’t having a stroke (I wasn’t TG), then eye tests. With a possible detached retina, they sent us to UH main campus ER where I was “super tracked” on a priority basis. They called ahead so a team would be ready when I arrived. More intense eye tests. Hemorrhaging and a posterior vitreous tear (white jelly part behind the retina) were found.

No surgery was immediately needed and I went home. They will call tomorrow or Monday to schedule me ASAP with a retina specialist for re-testing. The blood will clear up on its own. The tear may or may not get worse.

Every receptionist, paramedic, RN, and doctor was caring and efficient. All this took place in only 5.5 hours. We’re so grateful for the excellent treatment and outcome so far. Feeling confident it was handled as best as it could have been.
