A tail of two chickies

This is Salt one of our chickens, she is missing her tail as a result of a recent fox attack. She is a naughty and adventurous chicken who finds ways to get out of our large garden into the Welsh countryside. Sadly on this occasion Major our gentle and beautiful cockerel, who is her dad, ran to her assistance and the fox turned his attention to Major and Major has not been seen since. Salt however was unharmed apart from sporting a very strange looking behind!
All the girls are missing their man especially Marg (his favourite) and we worry about her as she really is not looking well.
We cannot decide whether to get another cockerel or not, they can sometimes be aggressive - we were lucky with Major as he was such a gentleman. I miss his calls in the morning :( -nature can be cruel sometimes!
