2024 Saturday — 5th Great-Grandbaby
Today Baby Charlotte was born at 11:57, she weighs 7 lbs 1 oz and is 20.5 inches long. This has been quite a day. Mr. Fun & I were told that our granddaughter Ashly’s C-section would be at 9:30 this morning. When we had no news by 12:30, this grandma was having a pretty tough time resting, worrying was coming more naturally (we did not know another birth got scheduled ahead of Ashly's).
Moments after 1:00 I started inquiring with texts. Thankfully Ashly’s mom-in-law, Trina, responded with the news that “a baby girl had arrived.” Ashly’s brother, our grandson, Emerson also responded. Relief and then the curiosity to know more stirred. And without asking Trina started sending me photos. My eyes overflowed; I brushed away tears the rest of the afternoon.
In the first photo she sent, I saw Baby Charlotte being held by her daddy. Then the next photo Daddy Robert placing the baby next to Ashly with all three of their faces in the frame; a visual that will stay in my memory forever. The next "take my breath-a-way" photo is little 5-year-old RJ seeing his mom as she is rolled out of the Recovery Room to where he is waiting and he sees his baby sister for the very first time. Watching his mom watch him . . . priceless.
These are the grandkids of ours that post very few photos, so you will just have to trust me when I explain that these photos are astounding.
Describing my emotion today is not possible, simply overwhelmed. Ashly has tried to have another baby for the past 4-years and numerous times I have asked praying friends and my friends on my FB page to pray for a baby and they have.
This little baby, Charlotte, is the answer to those prayers. She is a little miracle. What a joy and a delight to announce to my friends that our 5th great grandbaby has been born and that her mom and dad are doing fine.
Ashly did just tell me on the phone that Charlotte slept all day and she’ll likely party all night. And so the story begins.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
