This'n'That

Game day!

Another great day! Renata and I had a relaxing morning hanging out. She bought a puzzle when we were in the city on Thursday, so we started it while we were waiting for Kalyn to come over after their morning practice. We were happy just to have the time with her. I gave her a massage :-). We needed to pick up a few groceries then she went off to prepare for the game.
Renata and I were so excited, could hardly wait to go to the gym. The partner of one of K’s teammates arranged to meet us at the gym and sit with us. She played with the team last year. She brought us a bag of treats!
What a game! It was a derby match, and our team hadn’t beaten them since 2019, so they were ready! The atmosphere was incredible, the gym was packed, and everyone played so well. So thrilling to see K play here and hear her name announced when the team was introduced and she scored with a kill or block! They were playing Vilsiburg and won in three sets, 25/20, 25/20, 25/16. The crowd went crazy at the end! We talked to some of the players and the coach gave us a high 5! He invited us to join the team and their sponsors in the VIP room for food and drinks, unbelievable! The players didn’t all come into room at the same time and whenever any of them did come in, everyone clapped. So cool!  We’ve met all of the players now and most of the team management. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
We left around 10:30 and walked home. Never thought I’d be walking home so late in an unfamiliar city! Such an experience, and I wouldn’t have thought a few weeks ago that R and I would be in Germany watching K play volleyball and having so much fun. It’s been so easy. We both think that we could live here.
Not great photos, but good enough. K warming up in the top two, in the game in the bottom left and at the end of the game in the bottom right. Extra: R and I in the crowd. Can you spot us?
We’re taking K and her roommates out for a late lunch tomorrow, looking forward to that.
